• Friday's game was the first that the Hoosiers scored 100 points or more against a ranked opponent since beating No. 17 Tulane, 103-80 in November of 1992.
• IU won its 19th straight season opener, while snapping the Jayhawks 14-game season opening winning streak. It was the Hoosiers first season opening win away from Assembly Hall since beating Lafayette in the 2006 Preseason NIT at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
• This was just the second time in nine seasons that IU did not start a freshman in the season opener. The last time came in 2009-10 when Will Sheehey and Victor Oladipo were frosh.
• Sophomore OG Annunoby and junior Josh Newkirk made his first career starts for the Hoosiers. Junior Robert Johnson made his 56th career start, junior James Blackmon Jr., started his 46th game and sophomore Thomas Bryant was in the starting lineup for the 36th occasion.

• The 103 points scored makes it three out of the last four years that Indiana has scored 100 or more points in the season opener (100 vs. Chicago State in 2013; 116 vs. Mississippi Valley State in 2014).
• Indiana connected on 15 3-point field goals in the game, the eighth time under Tom Crean that the Hoosiers have made at least 15 in a game. Since the start of the 2014-15 season, IU leads all major conference teams making 9.7 three-pointers per game.
