IU’s Bower Places Seventh in 1-Meter Dive at Winter Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Indiana University diver Michal Bower placed seventh overall in the 1-meter dive final at the 2016 USA Diving Winter National Championships on Sunday evening in Columbus, Ohio.

Bower finished seventh overall with a 10-dive total of 479.70 which included her preliminary score of 243.35 from Thursday.

"Michal had a great night," IU head diving coach Drew Johansen said. "This was her first finals at a U.S. Nationals and she was very composed. She was aggressive and performed with confidence. She knows she belongs here and she is very excited for the 3-meter event tomorrow."

Bower will also be competing in the women's 3-meter dive starting on Monday, Dec. 19 at 10:00 a.m. ET. Indiana teammate Michael Hixon will compete in the men's 1-meter final on Monday evening at 4:30 p.m. ET.
