
No. 16 Indiana Falls to No. 6/7 Louisville in Countdown Classic

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 16-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (10-4) fell to the No. 6/7 Louisville Cardinals (12-2), 77-62, in the Countdown Classic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.
James Blackmon, Jr. recorded his first career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. OG Anunoby led IU with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Robert Johnson chipped in nine points.
In a back-and-forth first half, the Hoosiers and Cardinals exchanged leads 13 times over the first 11:05 of the game. With IU leading 20-19 on a Thomas Bryant layup at the 9:18 mark, Louisville responded by going on a 20-8 run to end the half and take a 39-27 lead in to the break.
In the first 20 minutes, Anunoby led Indiana with eight points and three rebounds off the bench on 3-of-6 shooting from the field, while both Johnson and Juwan Morgan chipped in five for the Hoosiers.
Trailing by 15 early in the second half, Indiana fired off a 13-4 run over a span 4:13 minutes to cut the Louisville advantage to just six, 50-44, with 12:20 remaining in the contest. The Cardinals were able to withstand the IU run, however, as the UL went on to beat the Hoosiers, 77-62.
De'Ron Davis had eight points and eight rebounds for Indiana, while Bryant totaled eight points and three boards. Morgan finished the contest with seven points, four rebounds and two assists.
The No. 16 Indiana Hoosiers will return to Bloomington, Ind. to host the No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers in a Big Ten game on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Tip-off at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
