BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana wrestling team has been selected as one of eight hosts of the 2016 NWCA Division I National Championship Series presented by the United States Marine Corps and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club. Indiana's dual meet will take place on Sunday, February 21 at 1:00 p.m. ET at University Gymnasium.
"We are very excited to be a part of the first NWCA Bowl Series," said Indiana head coach Duane Goldman. "Our entire team is honored to be selected to compete in this prestigious event, and IU is pleased to serve as a host."
The dual series will feature a new format this season, pitting the top eight Big Ten wrestling teams against the dual champions of the additional seven conferences in Division I wrestling. The eighth non-Big Ten team will be a wild card selection of the highest-ranked team to now secure their dual championship.
The eight Big Ten host teams include No. 1 Penn State, No. 2 Iowa, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 8 Nebraska, No. 15 Rutgers, No. 16 Minnesota, and No. 22 Indiana.
The series' visiting opponents will be set on Sunday, February 14, but three teams have already clinched their conferences' dual crowns: No. 4 Oklahoma State (Big 12), No. 5 Missouri (MAC), and No. 9 Lehigh (EIWA).
Tickets for this one-of-a-kind dual event will be $5 for adults and $3 for youth (under 18). Tickets can be purchased on the day of the dual at University Gymnasium.
