Freshman Harper Posts T3 Finish in Arizona

Erin Harper records the best finish by an IU freshman since 2010
PEORIA, Arizona – Indiana freshman Erin Harper closed out the final round of the Westbrook Invitational on Monday with a 2-under par score of 70, which gave her a total score of 4-under par 212 (72-70-70) for the tournament a tie for third place, just one shot out of first place.
It marks the best finish by an IU golfer since Elizabeth Tong registered a second place finish at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 19, 2015. It is also the best finish by an IU freshman since Lindsay Gahm also tied for third place at the Lady Northern Invitational on Oct. 12, 2010.
It is also the third top 15 finish in seven tournament this season or Harper.
As a team, Indiana finished with a score of 296 in the final round, pushing their team score to 881 for the tournament, which was good for a 12th place finish.
Pear Siriko logged her second straight top 35 finish with a final round 75 giving her a total score of 219 for the tournament.
Ana Sanjuan finished tied for 43rd with a score of 221 over the three rounds, including a final round 74 where she made four birdies on the front nine.
Camille Chevalier carded a 77 in her final round and tied for 74th place with a score of 229 while Evan Domingo had a score of 80 in her final round to put her in 83rd place.
Competing as an individual was sophomore Alix Kong and she matched Harper with a 2-under par round of 70 on Monday, the lowest single round score of her career. She finished the tournament with a score 225, which matches her career-best tournament score.
Indiana will return to the links at the Bay Area Intercollegiate, which runs March 7-8 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, California.
