COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Indiana Softball dropped a 4-0 decision to the No. 16-ranked Aggies in the second game on the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Aggie pitcher Samantha Show didn't allow a hit until sophomore Aimilia McDonough knocked a one-out double to center in the fourth inning. However, a double play ended the threat. McDonough finished the game 2-for-3 and has registered nine hits in the last six games.
Texas A&M got on the board in the third inning on an RBI single by Tori Vidales to bring in Kaitlyn Alderink and make it 1-0.
The Aggies added onto the lead in the sixth as they put up three runs on six hits, including three consecutive RBI singles.
Indiana had chances to get on the board, including having senior Alyssa Rosati on third with just one out in the fifth. However, a pair of groundouts ended the Indiana threat.
In the sixth, sophomore Rachel O'Malley led off the inning with a walk and sophomore Rebecca Blitz followed it up with a one-out single to put two on. But they were left stranded.
Freshman pitcher Tara Trainer took the loss as she allowed three runs off seven hits in 5.1 innings of work.
The Hoosiers return to action tomorrow afternoon as they face Texas A&M Corpus Christi, as well as another meeting with Texas A&M.
