Hoosiers Stay Perfect at Home with 5-2 Win Over No. 51 DePaul

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team (7-3) topped the No. 51 DePaul Blue Demons (4-6) 5-2 in a non-conference matchup Saturday inside the IU Tennis Center.
The morning started off with IU's freshmen pair of Madison Appel and Danielle Wolf notching a 6-3 win at the No. 3 doubles spot. That win would be shortly followed up with the doubles point-clinching win by IU's Natalie Whalen and Sarah McLean at No. 1 doubles.
In Singles, the Hoosiers found the same success. At the No. 2 spot, Paula Gutierrez vanquished DePaul's Marina Cozac 6-2, 6-4. The Hoosiers would follow with wins at the No. 6 and No. 5 spots clinching the match victory. Whalen won that clinching No. 5 match over Zaina Sufi, 7-5, 6-2.
After a DePaul win at the No.1 singles spot, Sarah McLean put the exclamation point on the victory for Indiana with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.
The Hoosiers will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 28 for a doubleheader with Marquette and Eastern Illinois. The Marquette match will begin at 11 a.m. ET and the Eastern Illinois match will follow at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played in the IU Tennis Center.
