IU Divers Earn Seven NCAA Spots Through Two Days at NCAA Zones

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana University men's and women's diving teams continued competition at the NCAA Zone C Championships on Friday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind.
Through two days, the Indiana men's and women's divers have earned seven qualification spots at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta later this month.
Men's divers in Zone C have been allotted seven NCAA qualifying spots on the 1-meter, nine spots on the 3-meter and ten spots on the platform.
Once you have earned one of those allotted spots, you can dive the other events at the NCAA Championships by placing in the top-12 in that event at the Zone C Championships.
The same rules apply for the women, who have 12 allotted spots on the 1-meter, seven on the 3-meter and eight on the platform.
Men's 1-Meter/3-Meter
In the 3-meter on Thursday, Joshua Arndt had a great performance for IU, not only qualifying for the NCAA Championships, but also recording an Olympic Trials cut.
Arndt finished third overall with a total of 755.15, including a score of 383 in his second list to notch his Trials cut. Teammate Cody Coldren placed 17th overall with a score of 616.15.
On Friday, both Cody Coldren and Joshua Arndt qualified for IU in the 1-meter. Coldren finished sixth overall with a total of 639.55 to qualify for the NCAA Championships, while Arndt placed in the top-12, eighth overall with a score of 618.75, to notch his qualification for the 3-meter.
Women's 1-Meter/3-Meter
On Thursday, both Michal Bower and Lacey Houser qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter for the Hoosiers. Michal Bower placed fifth overall with a total of 563.60, while Lacey Houser took eighth with a score of 554.10.
On Friday, the duo continued their great performances, earning two more NCAA spots for IU in the 3-meter dive. Michal Bower finished seventh overall with a total of 589.05, while Lacey Houser came in ninth place with a score of 586.10.
Qualification continues Saturday at 11 a.m. in West Lafayette, as both the men and women will be on the platform.
