WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana University University men's and women's diving teams wrapped up competition at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind.
Michal Bower and Lacey Houser each qualified for the platform dive at the NCAA Championships this coming week in Atlanta.
Over the course of the three-day Zones meet, the IU men's and women's diving teams earned nine spots at the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dive.
On Saturday, Michal Bower placed sixth overall in the platform wit a total of 455.45, while Lacey Houser finished sixth with a score of 439.05.
On the men's side, Cody Coldren finished 11th in the platform with a total of 592.45, while Joshua Arndt just missed qualifying for the platform, placing 15th with a score of 516.30. Even though Coldren finished in the top-12, he did not qualify for the NCAA Championships in the platform because he did not score a 300 in the event during the season.
The Hoosier women's duo of Houser and Bower had a great Zone C meet this week, as both qualified in all three diving events for next week's NCAA Championships in Atlanta.
For the men, Joshua Arndt qualified for both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive at the NCAA's, while Cody Coldren earned his spot in the 1-meter. Arndt also notched an Olympic Trials cut in the 3-meter with a score of 383 in his second list.
Men's divers in Zone C were allotted seven NCAA qualifying spots on the 1-meter, nine spots on the 3-meter and ten spots on the platform.
Once a diver earned one of those allotted spots, the diver can compete in the other events at the NCAA Championships by placing in the top-12 in that event at the Zone C Championships.
The same rules applied for the women, who had 12 allotted spots on the 1-meter, seven on the 3-meter and eight on the platform.
