Senior Haley Lips had an outstanding swim in the Championship Final of the 500 freestyle, placing fourth overall with a school-record and Big Ten record time of 4:34.86 to earn All-American honors.
Lips' eclipsed her own school record that she set at the Big Ten Championships last month where she won gold. The All-America accolade for Lips is the fourth of her storied career.
In the Consolation Final of the 500 free, Kennedy Goss came in fourth to finish 12th overall in the event with a time of 4:40.35 to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors.
In the Championship Final of the 400 medley relay, the team of Marie Chamberlain, Lilly King, Gia Dalesandro and Kennedy Goss placed seventh overall with a time of 3:30.13 to earn All-American honors.
The All-American honor is the sixth in the career for Kennedy Goss and her third already this year at the NCAA Championships. Dalesandro earned her fourth All-American accolade, while both Lilly King and Marie Chamberlain earned their first.
Lilly King was once again phenomenal for the Hoosiers in the relay, reeling off what is believed to be the fastest 100 breaststroke split in history with her time of 56.74. In the morning prelims, King went 56.82 to become the first woman to break 57 seconds in a 100 breast split.
The 2016 NCAA Championships continue on Friday morning for the Hoosiers at 10 a.m. ET with the prelims of the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay and 3-meter dive.
