IU Earns Honorable-Mention All-America Honors on First Night of NCAA Championships

ATLANTA – The No. 8-ranked Indiana University men's swimming and diving team got off to a great start at the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Wednesday evening.
The Indiana 800 freestyle relay team of Blake Pieroni, Anze Tavcar, Jackson Miller and Max Irwin earned Honorable Mention All-America honors, placing 10th overall with a time of 6:17.73.
In the leadoff leg for the Hoosiers, Pieroni touched the wall in a time of 1:32.96 for the Hoosiers, ranking as the third-fastest time in Indiana history.
After the first night of the NCAA Championships, the Hoosiers sit in 10th place overall with 14 points. Texas sits atop the team standings with a score of 40 points.
The 2016 NCAA Championships continue on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. ET with the prelims of the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 400 medley relay and 1-meter dive.
