Track and Field Kicks off 2016 Outdoor Season
After a record-breaking indoor season, the Hoosiers will head west to begin the outdoor portion of the season. The team will compete in Tempe, Arizona this weekend, taking part in the PAC-12 v. Big Ten Invitational. The Big Ten conference will be represented by the men's indoor champion, Nebraska, the women's indoor champion, Michigan, Penn State, and Indiana. The PAC-12 conference teams consist of Arizona, Arizona State, California, and Washington.
A total of 48 student-athletes, 24 from both the men's and women's teams, will make the trip to Tempe for the competition. The Hoosiers will compete in every event except the pole vault.
Rorey Hunter, who finished third in the mile run at the Big Ten Championships, will run in the 1,500m and the 800m races.
Daniel Kuhn, an All-Big Ten performer and conference champion in the 600m, will race in the 800m and the 4x400m relay.
Nakel McClinton, who finished third in the weight throw at the Big Ten Championships, will compete in the hammer throw and the discus throw.
The meet will begin on Friday at 4:00PM EST with the hammer throw followed by the javelin and the 5,000m run.
Action will begin on Saturday at 5:30PM EST with the discus. Running events will begin at 9:20PM EST with the 100m hurdles. The meet will conclude with the 4x400m relay at approximately 12:30AM EST.
