Hoosiers Conclude Play at Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana – Indiana junior Keegan Vea was able to tame the challenging Kampen Course on Sunday, carding a 1-under par 71 on his way to a total score of 219 (+3) and a tie for 22nd place and his second Top 25 finish of the season.
Indiana posted a team score of 299 on Sunday at the Boilermaker Invitational, their best of the tournament, and finished with a total score of 901 and 15th place.
With the Hoosiers all starting their rounds on hole 10, Vea played his first nine – the back nine – in 1-under par after eight pars and one birdie on hole 15. Following bogeys on holes 2 and 3, Vea ran off birdies on 4, 7 and 8 before ending his round with a bogey on his final hole.
Despite getting off to a rocky start on Saturday, Andrew Havill came into Sunday looking to get back on the hot streak he had been on the four rounds entering this weekend. He finished Sunday with a score of 75 and tied for 74th with his total score of 234.
Max Kollin wrapped up his weekend with a 5-over par score of 77 on Sunday to put his total score of 225 and a tie for 51st.
Brendon Doyle was next for the Hoosiers, tying for 61st after his final round 76 left him with a total score 229 while Jake Brown tied for 70th with a score of 232 after a 77 on Sunday.
Jack Sparrow, competing as an individual, opened with rounds of 73 and 74 on Saturday and posted an 81 on Sunday. He tied for 58th with an overall score of 228. Christian Fairbanks also competed as an individual this weekend and finished 79th after a 74 on Sunday left him with a total score of 236.
Next up for the Hoosiers is the Big Ten Championship at Victoria National in Newburgh, Indiana, just outside Evansville. The tournament gets underway with 36 holes Friday, April 22 and runs through April 24.
