WINDSOR, Ontario – Indiana University dive Michael Hixon and former IU diving standout had great performances at the third leg of the 2016 FINA Diving World Series in Windsor, Ontario, Canada last week.
Hixon placed sixth overall in the 3-meter dive, while Cozad finished sixth in the women's 10-meter.
"We couldn't be prouder of Michael and and Amy," Indiana head diving coach Drew Johansen said. "It's a great accomplishment for them both to final at an event like this so close to the Olympics – it was basically an all-star meet with only the top-12 divers in the world earning invites."
In the men's 3-meter final, Hixon earned 488.80 points to place sixth overall. Hixon scored 80 or more points on four of his six dives, including 91.80 on his inward 3 ½ tuck in the last round. Cozad advanced to her first World Series final on 10-meter and finished sixth with 307.10 points.
The FINA World Series continues with the fourth and final stop in Kazan, Russia, next week. Cozad will compete for the U.S. at the April 22-24 event.
