BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After surrendering a pair of grand slams, Indiana Softball dropped the series finale to No. 2 Michigan in six innings on Sunday afternoon, 12-4.

The Wolverines (27-3, 5-1 Big Ten) once again scored early as a double by Sierra Romero and a pair of walks loaded the bases with one out. Tera Blanco then earned a bases-loaded walk to plate Romero. However, pitcher Tara Trainer forced a popout and fly out to prevent further damage.

Indiana (20-13, 3-3 Big Ten) did quickly respond as IU tallied four hits in the bottom of the first frame. After sophomore Rebecca Blitz singled then stole second base, junior Erin Lehman doubled to left center to tie the game up.

The stalemate didn't last long as Alex Sobczak led off the second inning with a solo shot to left, the first of four home runs for the Wolverines.

Lehman came up big again in the bottom of the second as she brought in her second run of the game on a two-out single to right field to plate sophomore Rachel O'Malley from third base.

However, Michigan took the lead for good in the third frame as Lindsay Montemarano tripled and then scored on a single by Amanda Vargas. In the next inning, the Wolverines further pulled away as Romero hit a solo shot before Montemarano hit the first grand slam of the day.

Michigan's second bases-loaded knock came in the sixth off the bat of Sierra Lawrence.

The Hoosiers started a two-out rally in the bottom of the inning as back-to-back singles by O'Malley and senior Michelle Huber set the stage for Blitz, who tripled to make it 12-4. But, Indiana would get no closer.

Indiana has a quick turnaround as the Hoosiers travel to West Lafayette, Ind. on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Purdue. Both games will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network beginning at 3 p.m.
