Hoosiers Finish Day One in Record Form
Another meet, and another school record for the Hoosier track and field squad. Day one of the Tiger Track Classic comes to a close with strong marks across the board.
The members of the women's team performed very well in the hammer throw. Nakel McClinton set her second school record in a fourth place finish with a mark of 64.23m (210ft 9 in). Laura Schroeder finished just behind McClinton in fifth with a mark of 62.76m (205ft 11in). Nycia Ford finished 23rd with a mark of 47.81m (156ft 10in).
Andrew Miller finished fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 61.29m (201ft 1in). Matt Birk finished ninth in the javelin throw with a mark of 55.73m (182ft 10in).
Carl Smith took sixth in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:45.08 and Bobby Browning finished 14th with a season best time of 14:53.05.
Eric Bethea finished 19th in the triple jump with an outdoor career best mark of 13.83m (45ft 4.5in).
The meet will resume tomorrow with men's high jump at 11:00AM. Running events will begin with the 4x100m relays starting at 11:30AM.
