Distance Runners Steal the Show at Auburn
Madison Stenger led the charge for Indiana's dominance in the 1,500m run. She won the event with a time of 4:29.61. Brianna Johnson finished in a close second with a time of 4:29.92, followed by Corinne Cominator with a time of 4:29.95. Haley Harris finished fifth with a time of 4:33.55 and Maggie Allen took 20th with a time of 4:45.32. On the men's side, Joe Murphy took third with a time of 3:50.16, Owen Skeete finished fifth with a time of 3:52.18, and Eric Claxton placed seventh with a time of 3:53.25.
Jeremy Coughler owned the field in the men's steeplechase. He won by over nine seconds with a time of 9:04.21. Haley and Kelsey Harris finished second and fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase. Haley's time was 10:53.75 and Kelsey's was 11:02.98.
Treyton Harris took fourth in the long jump with an outdoor career best mark of 7.14m (23ft 5.25in), Chase Pacheco finished 11th with a mark of 6.84m (22ft 5.25in), and Eric Bethea placed 14th with a mark of 6.72m (22ft .75in). Ari Nelson finished fifth in the women's long jump with a season best mark of 5.94m (19ft 6in) and Aaliyah Armsted took sixth with a season best leap of 5.88m (19ft 3.5in).
In the 400m hurdles Mackenzie Bollinger placed fourth with a time of 1:01.46. Jeyland Valentin finished 13th with a time of 1:02.87. For the men, Zach Reitzug placed fourth with a time of 54.39 and Diquis Manley took sixth with a season best mark of 53.51.
Paul Galas finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 2.02m (6ft 7.5in). Stephen Keller was 11th in the event clearing the bar at 1.97m (6ft 5.5in).
Dylan Anderson tied for fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 5.05m (16ft 6.75in). Terry Batemon placed 13th with a mark of 4.75m (15ft 7in). Sydney Clute finished sixth in the invitational section of the women's pole vault. She cleared the bar at 4.00m (13ft 1.5in).
Willie Morrison placed third in the shot put with a mark of 17.71m (58ft 1.25in). Morrison also took 11th in the discus with a mark of 48.62m (159ft 6in). David Schall threw 17.62m (57ft 9.75in) in the shot for a fifth place finish. Schall doubled up to finish seventh in the discus throw with a mark of 50.50m (165ft 8in). Nakel McClinton finished fourth in the women's discus with a mark of 48.76m (160ft).
Markevious Roach placed seventh in the 400m dash with a career best time of 47.32. Daniel Kuhn was right behind him in eighth with a time of 47.50. Taylor Williams took 12th in the 400m dash with a season best time of 55.31. Riley Egbula placed 17th with a time of 55.95.
Five Hoosiers claimed top 20 spots in the women's 800m run. Brenna Calder crossed in eighth with a time of 2:09.38. Kendell Wiles finished 12th with a time of 2:10.53. Olivia Hippensteel took 15th with a time of 2:11.21, Kellie Davis placed 16th with a time of 2:11.60, and Taylor Wiley finished 18th with a time of 2:11.93. On the men's side, Jordan Huntoon finished fourth with a time of 1:51.37.
Adrian Mable finished 14th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.01. Anderson finished 18th with a time of 15.16. Tyler Bellaire finished 14th in the 100m dash with a time of 10.83. Bellaire also finished 17th in the 200m dash with a time of 21.75.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Reitzug, Kuhn, Manley, and Roach finished second with a season best time of 3:11.98. The women's relay team of Wiles, Egbula, Wiley, and Williams finished sixth with a season best time of 3:43.88.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Bellaire, Roach, Derek Grimmer, and Cornelius Strickland took eighth with a time of 41.80. The women's team of McKayla Eves, Egbula, Jaela Gay, and Maya Caudle finished tenth with a time of 47.38.
Indiana will be back in action next weekend as they head to Louisville for the Big Ten v ACC Challenge.
