IU’s Vrooman Places Fourth in 800 Free at U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – Indiana University alumna Lindsay Vrooman placed fourth overall in the 800 freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.

Vrooman, who also placed fourth in the 400 freestyle earlier in the week, posted a lifetime-best mark of 8:29.10 in the 800 free to take fourth place.

Earlier in prelims, IU postgrad Zane Grothe qualified fifth overall in the 1500 freestyle with a personal-best time of 15:11.72, dropping over seven seconds off his previous lifetime best. Also in the 1500 free, Trey Hubbuch placed 45^th with a time of 15:41.90, while Adam Destrampe finished 84^th with a mark of 16:04.21.

Also in prelims, Delaney Barnard took 97^th in the women's 50 freestyle with a time of 26.32.

The 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will conclude on Sunday night at 7:45 p.m. ET with the finals of the women's 50 freestyle and men's 1500 freestyle.
