Wrestling Unveils 2016-17 Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Head coach Duane Goldman and the Indiana wrestling team announced Monday the schedule for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Indiana's road to the NCAA Championships will feature 18 dual opponents, including three days of double duals, and two regular season tournaments.
This season, the Hoosiers' home schedule culminates with their hosting of the 2017 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, the first time since the 2005-06 season. Fans across the Big Ten Conference will gather at Assembly Hall on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5 to see who will advance to this year's NCAA Championships.
Indiana will open their season on the road with a double dual at Cal Poly on Thursday, November 3. The Hoosiers will face the San Francisco State Gators at 5:00 p.m. ET before a dual versus the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.
The Hoosiers will flip to the east coast the following weekend with a weeknight dual and a weekend tournament in the Washington, D.C. area. George Mason will host the Hoosiers in dual action on Thursday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, November 19, the Hoosiers will enter the Navy Classic, a one-day tournament hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
Another double dual awaits the Hoosiers on Sunday, December 4 when they travel to SIU-Edwardsville. Indiana will take on North Dakota State at 2:00 p.m. before facing the hosting Cougars at 5:00 p.m.
Indiana begins their Big Ten dual schedule on Friday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m., when they host the Wisconsin Badgers at University Gymnasium. That weekend continues with a double dual at Eastern Michigan, where Indiana will face the Eagles and the Cleveland State Vikings. The action is expected to begin Sunday, December 11 at 12:00 p.m.
The University at Buffalo and Indiana Tech will travel to Bloomington for a home double dual on Sunday, December 18 at University Gymnasium. The schedule of the Hoosiers' dual start times remains to be determined.
The Hoosiers will make a return visit to the annual Ken Craft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern University, on Thursday, December 29 and Friday, December 30.
Indiana returns for the spring semester with a road trip against the Purdue Boilermakers on Friday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. Following that, the Hoosiers will take a nine-day hiatus before hosting Minnesota on Sunday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m.
The next weekend, the Hoosiers will revisit Evanston for an away dual at Northwestern on Friday, January 27. The Nebraska Cornhuskers roll into Bloomington for a dual on Sunday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m.
The Hoosiers will open February with two duals on the road in one weekend. Indiana lands in Maryland for a dual versus the Terrapins on Friday, Feburary 3 at 7:00 p.m., before traveling north to wrestle Rutgers on Sunday, February 5.
The Hoosiers' tentative home schedule comes to a close with a senior day dual on Friday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. versus the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes. Indiana concludes their Big Ten dual schedule the following Sunday, February 12, at Illinois.
After Indiana hosts the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5, qualified Hoosiers will head to St. Louis, Missouri for the 2017 NCAA Championships. This year, the championships returns to Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis and run from the opening rounds on Thursday, March 16 to the finals on Saturday, March 18.
