BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned nine preseason All-America honors from CollegeSwimming.com on Monday.
Earning the honors for the Hoosiers were Gia Dalesandro (200 fly), Kennedy Goss (200 back), Lilly King (100 breast, 200 breast), Brooklyn Snodgrass (100 back), Ian Finnerty (100 breast), Ali Khalafalla (50 free), Blake Pieroni (100 free, 200 free), Anze Tavcar (100 free) and Cody Taylor (200 breast).
"It is an honor to be represented so extensively on the preseason All-America teams," IU head swimming coach Ray Looze said. "This is another sign of how far Indiana swimming has come in the last few years in our quest for an NCAA team championship. With the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis in 2017, we have a wonderful opportunity to take a positive step in that direction with top-5 finishes for both our women's and men's teams."
Indiana's nine All-America accolades are the most of any Big Ten team and are tied with California for the third-most of any team in the country behind only Stanford (12) and Texas (10). A total of 123 swimmers from thirty institutions were selected for the honor.
Selections were based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers (through September 1st) with input from coaches and sports information contacts.
