Kong sits in Top 10 to lead IU after Day One of Ptarmigan Ram Classic

Day One Results

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – In the opening 36 holes of the Indiana Women's Golf season, junior Alix Kong's 145 put her in a tie for ninth place after day one of the Ptarmigan Ram Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club.

IU posted a round one team score of 296 and sat in third place overall heading into the next 18 holes where they posted a 304 to tally a 600 on the day. Their team score was good enough for a tie for seventh place with Northern Colorado heading into tomorrow's final round.

Kong posted team lows for both rounds on the day, with a 1-under par 71 in the opening 18 holes while completing the day with a 2-over par 74. Senior Ana Sanjuan followed narrowly behind as she finished 3-over par for the day with a total of 147 as she shot even par in round one.

Sophomore Erin Harper opened up the season with an 8-over par performance with a combined 152 (76,78) and sits in a tie for 47^th place. Freshman Elisa Pierre made her Hoosier debut as she finished the day tied for 60^th with a 156 (77, 79). Rounding out the IU lineup was junior Pear Siriko who tied for 72^nd after day one, shooting 158 (81, 77).

The final round of the Ptarmigan Ram Classic concludes tomorrow morning at the Ptarmigan Country Club with 18 holes with a 10:30 a.m. ET shotgun start.
