IU Women’s Golf Tied for Third After Day One of Mary Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana Women's Golf team sits in a tie for third place with a pair of players in the top 20 after the conclusion of the first two rounds at the Mary Fossum Invitational on Saturday.
Senior Ana Sanjuan turned in a 1-under par performance, to sit in sixth place overall. In round one, Sanjuan hit five birdies on her way to 2-under par (70). She finished the day with a 1-over par second round (73) for a collective day one total of 143.
As a team, IU is tied with tournament host Michigan State, posting a two round total of 603 (297, 306). Miami (FL) leads the way (569) and followed by Princeton (599) in second place.
Sophomore Alix Kong also finds herself in the top 20 after day one, as she finished with a combined 36-hole score of 151 to tie for 18th. Freshman Elisa Pierre is tied for 31st after shooting a career-low 75 in round one and finish the day at 154.
Redshirt senior Theresa-Ann Jedra is tied for 34th as she comes in one shot behind Pierre with a 155 on the day. Junior Pear Siriko rounded out the Hoosier lineup in a tie for 68th (166). Coming off a solid performance at the Cardinal Classic, individual Carolina Garrett is tied for 61st overall (163).
The third and final round at Forest Akers West begins tomorrow morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
