Hoosiers Finish Third as Sanjuan and Kong Tie for Seventh at Mary Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana Women's Golf team finished three strokes over host Michigan State as it posted a third place overall finish after the final round of the Mary Fossum Invitational on Sunday at Forest Akers West.

Junior Alix Kong shot the Hoosiers' low on the day, going 1-under par with four birdies to shoot a 71 as she tied teammate senior Ana Sanjuan in a tie for 7^th place overall. Sanjuan finished the round 4-over par and tied Kong with an overall score of 222.

As a team, IU shot a 299 in the final 18 holes of the three round tournament while standings changed very little from day one to day two. Miami (FL) finished on top, going 4-under par while Princeton came in second (900), followed by IU, host Michigan State and Western Michigan and Akron to round out the top five.

Freshman Elisa Pierre put together another great round, tying her low from Saturday's round one, finishing with a 75 on Sunday and overall score of 229 to tie for 22^nd place. Senior Theresa-Ann Jedra posted three birdies as she played her best round of the tournament with a 76 on Sunday and finished tied for 33^rd overall (231).

Rounding out the IU lineup was junior Pear Siriko who shot her best round with a 77 to tie for 59^th while redshirt freshman Carolina Garret finished 69^th playing as an individual (248).

The Hoosiers are back in action on Oct. 2-4 at the Powerade Cougar Classic in Hanahan, South Carolina.
