GLENVIEW, Illinois – Due to a brief lightning delay late in the second round on Sunday, all but two groups were able to finish 36 holes of the Windon Memorial at North Shore Country Club near Chicago. Those two groups will return to the course at 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday to complete their second round and then the final round will get underway at 9:00 a.m. ET.
While only the scores through round one are official – the Hoosiers were in ninth place – the results for round two with the exception of the two groups that didn't finish show the Hoosiers in 10th place with a score of 593 (+17).
Senior Keegan Vea opened the tournament with a 2-under par 70 in round one – the lowest round in relation to par by an IU golfer this season – before following it with a 76 in round two. His score of 146 (+2) is the best among the five Hoosiers through 36 holes and has him tied for 22nd place on the individual leaderboard.
Vea showed what he is capable of and that his outing earlier this year at Wolf Run was not the normal, when he posted scores of 84 and 83 in the 36-hole event. He recorded two birdies and one double bogey to go out in even par 36 in round one. But then he posted four birdies and two bogeys on the back nine for a 2-under 34.
Broch Ochsenreiter, a freshman from Nashville, Tennessee, recorded his first under par round with a 71 in his second round to give him a score of 150 (+6) after an opening round 79. He is joined at 6-over par by senior Andrew Havill, who recorded scores of 73 and 77 to tie for 42nd individually.
Ochsenreiter was steady in his opening round but just unable to find any birdies, carding 13 pars, four bogeys and one triple bogey. In his second round, he continued to be steady, but turned in three birdies and two bogeys to finish at 1-under par.
Redshirt sophomore Jake Brown opened with a 78 in round one before trimming four shots off to post 74 in round two and tie for 54th at 8-over par. And just one shot behind Brown is junior Brendon Doyle, who used rounds of 74 and 79 to tie for 59th at 9-over par.
The Hoosiers will begin the final round on Monday with the exact time to be determined after the two groups finish round two. The earliest they could begin their final round is 9:00 a.m. ET. To follow all of the scores and get up-to-the-minute results, follow the live scoring at GolfStat.
