Hoosiers Beat Lions in Three Sets

SAN FRANCISCO – Senior Allison Hammond posted a career-high 19 kills on 32 swings for a .531 hitting percentage and the Indiana volleyball team took down Columbia in three sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-14) on Saturday at War Memorial Gym.
The Hoosiers moved to 6-0 on the season for the second time in three years.
Freshman Hayden Huybers got her first collegiate start and provided eight kills, four blocks, one dig, one ace and one assist.
The Hoosiers (6-0) hit a season-best .402 as a team including a blistering .482 with 18 kills in the second set. Indiana held Columbia to a .153 hitting percentage in the match.
Adding to the Hoosiers consistent hitting, senior Jazzmine McDonald recorded eight kills and hit .700 in the match.
The Indiana defense totaled 33 digs, including 13 from senior libero Taylor Lebo. Lebo also added one of the Hoosiers six aces in the match.
Senior Megan Tallman continued to pile up assists with 37 in the match and now has 3,100 for her career. Tallman will have a chance to move into the top-five in school history with 29 more assists.
The Hoosiers got a chance to play much of the roster during the match and at one point had four freshmen on the floor at the same time. Freshman Ally Badowski came on to give the Hoosiers two kills on her three swings. Freshman Victoria Brisack came on in the third set and tallied three assists.
The Hoosiers final match of the San Francisco Invitational will take place at 8:00 p.m. ET against Princeton.
