Hoosier Swim & Dive Head to Purdue on Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to West Lafayette, Ind. to face rival Purdue in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon.
The meet will get underway at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center at 11:00 a.m. ET. Live results for swimming can be found at IUHoosiers.com, while live results for diving can be found at DiveMeets.com.

The Hoosier men enter Saturday's meet ranked No. 4 in the nation in the CSCAA/TYR Top 25 with a 9-0 record in dual meets this season. The IU women head to Purdue ranked No. 14 in the country with a 6-3 mark in dual meets.
The Purdue men are 3-2 in duals this season after beating Michigan State this past week, 179-111. The Boilermaker women are receiving votes in the CSCAA/TYR rankings after moving to 6-1 on the year with a 203-92 victory over the Spartans.
Saturday's meet will be the standard swimming dual meet featuring the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. The lone exception will be that the men's teams will swim the 400 IM, while the women's squads will swim the 200 IM. Exhibition heats will be held during the two, 25-minute breaks in the meet.
Diving will also occur during the breaks, with the two events starting at 11:25 a.m. ET and 12:25 p.m. ET. The platform and 1-meter dives will be scored, while the 3-meter dive will just be an exhibition.
Hoosier Men Remain Undefeated with Victory Over No. 13 Michigan
The Indiana men improved to 9-0 in dual meets on the season, beating the No. 13 Wolverines, 167-133, on Jan. 13. The win marked the first for the Hoosiers over Michigan in a dual meet since the 1998-99 season.
Hoosiers in the CSCAA/TYR Top 25
In the fifth CSCAA/TYR Top 25 released on Jan. 18, the Indiana men were ranked No. 4 in the nation, while the IU women came in at No. 14.
In the first CSCAA/TYR Top 25 poll released on Oct. 26, the Indiana men's swimming and diving team was ranked No. 1 in the nation after sweeping both Texas and Florida to start the season. The women's team was ranked No. 12 in the country.
IU Racks up Medals at FINA Short Course World Championships
Lilly King led a group of five IU swimmers that won medals at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Ontario in December. Over the course of the six-day competition, current, former and postgrad Indiana swimmers combined for 12 medals – six gold, five silver and one bronze. King took home five medals, including four golds, while Blake Pieroni won two silver medals and one bronze. IU alum Cody Miller won a gold medal to go with a silver.
Also winning medals on the week were Kennedy Goss and IU postgrad Zane Grothe. Goss won gold with Team Canada in the 800 freestyle relay, while Zane Grothe won silver with Team USA in the 800 freestyle relay.
IU Sends 11 to Rio Olympics, Winning Seven Medals
The Indiana Swimming and Diving program sent 13 swimmers, divers and coaches to the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics – James Connor, alumna Amy Cozad, Marwan Elkamash, Kennedy Goss, Michael Hixon, Ali Khalafalla, Lilly King, alum Cody Miller, Jessica Parratto, Blake Pieroni and Anze Tavcar. Drew Johansen served as the head coach of USA diving, while Ray Looze was an assistant coach for USA Swimming.
At the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, the IU swimmers and divers won a total of seven medals – four golds, one silver and two bronze. Lilly King headlined the group with two gold medals, while Cody Miller won gold and bronze. Blake Pieroni earned a gold medal as a member of Team USA's 4x100 freestyle relay team, junior Kennedy Goss earned a bronze medal as a member of Team Canada's 4x200 freestyle relay team and junior diver Michael Hixon won silver in the men's 3m synchronized springboard.

Indiana's Lilly King dominated the breaststroke at the 2016 NCAA Championships, winning both the 100 and 200 breast with the fastest short-course yard times in history. The freshman broke every record in the event with her historic swim – the American, NCAA, NCAA Meet, U.S. Open, Indiana school, Big Ten and Georgia Tech Pool records – and owns all of the aforementioned records in both the 100 and 200 breast. In total, King recorded an impressive four All-America honors at her first NCAA Championships.
