BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's tennis head coach Ramiro Azcui has announced the hiring of Ryan Miller as an assistant coach with the program.
Since June of 2014 Miller has been the head coach of men's and women's tennis at Hanover College and he also brings plenty of experience with Indiana tennis.
From January 2012 to August 2012 and March 2014 through May 2014 Miller served as a volunteer assistant coach with IU women's tennis.
"We are delighted to have Ryan back in our program as our new assistant coach," Azcui said. "His knowledge of the program, his passion for college athletics and his energetic coaching style will help us continue the great legacy and tradition at IU. Ryan graduated from Indiana and his love for this wonderful university will help us tremendously in the recruiting process."
In his role as a volunteer assistant coach, Miller practiced with both the team and individuals on a daily basis and helped with organization and revision of scouting reports. He was present for on-court coaching in all matches, including traveling with the team to away matches.
"I am humbled by this opportunity to join the women's tennis staff at Indiana University," Miller said. "Thank you Fred Glass, Jeremy Gray and Coach Azcui for granting me the opportunity to return to my alma-mater and give back to the institution that has given me so much."
"I have always admired Coach Azcui's commitment to the student-athlete experience, and I Iook forward to helping our current and future student-athletes reach their highest levels of success on the tennis court and in the classroom," Miller added.
Miller also held the position of Assistant Professional Instructor at the IU Tennis Center from August 2007 through August 2012. Miller ran junior and adult clinics, taught private lessons and assisted with other club programs.
Miller led the Hanover College women's team to a 40-12 overall record in three seasons with the program, including a 24-0 record in conference play. The team won Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season titles in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and were Tournament Champions in 2014 and 2015.
Miller graduated from Indiana in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism.
