BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – On Saturday night inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, Indiana basketball fans got their chance to see the 2017-18 under the direction of head coach Archie Miller for the time. The thousands in attendance were treated to player introductions along with a shooting competition and a dunk contest before a full-court scrimmage.
The shooting competition, which paired one men's player with one member of the Indiana women's basketball team, was won by Josh Newkirk and Ali Patberg as they defeated Robert Johnson and Tyra Buss in the finals.
The dunk contest came down to the final dunk, and sophomore Curtis Jones stole the show by jumping over 6-10 teammate De'Ron Davis and dunking the lob from Devonte Green to take home the title.
The team then split into two teams and scrimmaged for a pair of 12-minute halves. In the end, it was the "Crimson" team that came out on top with Green and Jones leading the way. Robert Johnson and Juwan Morgan paced the "Cream" team in scoring.
Indiana will play the first of two exhibition games next Saturday, Oct. 28 against Marian University at 8:00 p.m. The game will only be streamed live on BTN Plus, which can be purchased at BTN2Go.com.
