BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team had five players with two or more blocks against No. 10 Wisconsin, but fell in three sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-15) on Friday at University Gym.
Redshirt sophomore Kendall Beerman led the Hoosiers with nine kills and junior Elizabeth Asdell hit .500 with seven kills.
Freshman Bayli Lebo, who made her third start at libero led Indiana with 10 digs and sophomore Hayden Huybers tallied four blocks.
Asdell had four of her seven kills in the first set as she hit .667 in the first set and put Indiana up 7-5. Wisconsin used a 7-1 run to go up 12-8 and Indiana called a timeout.
The Hoosiers (12-15, 1-14) went down as many as six, but came back to within two at 23-21. A pair of Wisconsin kills secured the first set win for the Badgers.
Lebo had seven of the Hoosiers 14 digs in the second set and it was even 10-10 through the first 20 points of the set. Wisconsin scored seven of the next eight points to take a 17-11 lead.
Again, Indiana closed the gap, this time to three at 23-20, but an attack error and Wisconsin kill ended the second set and put Wisconsin up 2-0 in the match.
In the final set, Wisconsin asserted an efficient attack with 16 kills on 20 swings to hit .700 and close out the match in three sets.
Up next the Hoosiers are set to host No. 5 Minnesota Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at University Gym.
