Hoosiers Fall Against No. 5 Minnesota

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore middle blocker Deyshia Lofton led the Indiana volleyball team with nine kills and hit .667, but the Hoosiers came up short as they fell in three sets (25-12, 25-10, 25-15) against No. 5 Minnesota on Saturday at University Gym.
Junior Elizabeth Asdell added eight kills and hit .389 and redshirt sophomore Kendall Beerman tallied five kills and hit .308 for the match.
Freshman libero Bayli Lebo led Indiana with nine digs and sophomore setter Victoria Brisack recorded 27 assists and one ace for the match.
The fifth ranked Golden Gophers sided out at 84 percent and hit .518 for the match. Minnesota also tallied 10 aces.
After Minnesota sided out at 91 percent and 90 percent in the first two sets, the Hoosiers (12-16, 1-15) limited the Golden Gophers to 73 percent in the third set.
Indiana forced Minnesota into four attack errors in the final set, but Minnesota had their most kills of any individual set, in set three with 18 kills on 36 attempts.
Up next the Hoosiers are on the road next week at Penn State on Wednesday and Michigan State on Saturday.
