Non-Conference Play Comes To A Close Thursday At Yale For IU Women’s Basketball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The non-conference portion of the season wraps up on Thursday when Indiana visits Yale. Tipoff in New Haven, Conn. is set for 1 p.m. ET on the Ivy League Network and WHCC 105.1 FM.

Senior guard Tyra Buss broke her first school record on Monday when she made six free throws to be the program's all-time leader in free throws made (516). She continues to be on pace to break school records in a variety of other categories.

GOING TO OVERTIME
Indiana played in its first overtime game of the season, falling 82-72 to Virginia on Monday at the West Palm Invite. Since 2003, Indiana moves to 11-11 in overtime games and 3-2 under head coach Teri Moren.
CAHILL MAKES HER MARK
Senior Amanda Cahill will also move her way up in the IU record books this season, already making her mark in points scored and rebounds. She's just the fifth-ever player to record over 1,400 points and 900 rebounds as she ranks fourth all-time with 925 rebounds and 13th in scoring with 1,480 points.
KYM'S IMPROVEMENT
Junior forward Kym Royster's play to start the season is one of the best improvements of any player in the Big Ten. The Newark, Ohio native is averaging 11.2 points per contest and has scored in double figures in seven games this season. Her +7.0 points per game this season is one of the best improvements in the Big Ten, ranking fourth among all returning players. She has also picked up nearly as many offensive boards (34) as defensive (47) while averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.
FOUR ON THE ROAD
Indiana is in the midst of a four-game road streak when it wraps up non-conference play in the upcoming week. Last non-conference tests include the West Palm Invitational on Dec. 17-18 against Virginia and Missouri and a trip to Yale on Dec. 21. It will mark the longest stretch the Hoosiers are away from home this season. The Hoosiers picked up a 67-56 road win at Northern Kentucky to begin the stretch on Saturday.
PENN PUTS UP POINTS
Freshman guard Jaelynn Penn continues to put points on the board for Indiana, as she averages 9.5 points and 5.8 rebounds through twelves games of her rookie season. She has scored in double figures four times and ranks sixth in scoring amongst all Big Ten freshman this season. She also ranks in the top 10 amongst all freshmen in including third in rebounds per game and third in free throw percentage (.771).
BENDU IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Freshman guard Bendu Yeaney posted her fifth game in double figures this season with an 11-point performance against Virginia. The Portland, Ore. native is putting up 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 11 appearances this season.
