A Holiday Reminder to IU Supporters and Season Ticket Holders

Season's greetings! As an Indiana University season ticket holder, alumnus, Varsity Club member, or fan, you are a representative of IU athletics interests ("booster") as defined by NCAA regulations. We greatly value your interest and support, and would like to take this opportunity to remind you that an inappropriate action on your part can jeopardize the eligibility of an IU student-athlete, prospective student-athlete, and/or the compliance of Indiana University with Big Ten and NCAA regulations.
As we head into gift-giving season, please be reminded that NCAA regulations related to extra benefits apply at all times to the giving and exchanging of gifts with student-athletes, including during the holiday season.
Please note that the following are not permissible under NCAA regulations:
As a reminder, impermissible extra benefits provided to current or prospective student-athletes include, but are not limited to the following:

As we head into gift-giving season, please be reminded that NCAA regulations related to extra benefits apply at all times to the giving and exchanging of gifts with student-athletes, including during the holiday season.
Please note that the following are not permissible under NCAA regulations:
- It is not permissible for IU coaches, staff, or boosters to provide gifts to student-athletes or their family and friends
- It is not permissible for IU coaches, staff, or boosters to participate in gift exchanges with student-athletes or their family and friends
- It is not permissible for IU coaches, staff, or boosters to provide free or reduced services to student-athletes or their family and friends
As a reminder, impermissible extra benefits provided to current or prospective student-athletes include, but are not limited to the following:
- Cash, gift cards, gift certificates, pre-paid debit/credit cards, loans
- Tangible items (clothing, cars, jewelry)
- Use of an automobile, moped, etc.
- Meal at a restaurant
- Free/reduced tickets to non-IU athletics events
- Free/reduced tickets to other entertainment events such as concerts
- Free/reduced professional services (legal, car repair, dry cleaning, etc.)
- Free/reduced merchandise (unless available to any individual – e.g., 25% off bookstore with IU ID)
- Free/reduced storage of personal belongings
