Hoosiers Fall at Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Indiana women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 match on Sunday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville.
The Hoosiers (5-3) fell behind 1-0 in the match after Tennessee won two out of the three doubles matches. Madison Appel and Kim Schmider did not finish their doubles match at the top spot for Indiana. The score was 2-3 when that match was stopped.
Kim Schmider won her first set in singles, but did not finish her match as the overall match was decided.
Tennessee (7-1) added two more points with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. They got the final point to clinch the match with a win at No. 1 singles.
After dropping her first set, 6-0, Caitlin Bernard fought back to push it to a tiebreaker in the second set.
Paula Gutierrez playing against #69 Brittany Lindl lost the first set, but was 5-5 in the second set when her match was stopped.
Up next the Hoosiers return home to host Notre Dame and Kentucky on February 18 and 19 at the IU Tennis Center.
