Hoosiers Fall at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team (7-4) suffered a 7-0 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday afternoon in the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
The Irish won the doubles point with a 6-1 win at the third spot, and a 6-4 win by the sixth ranked duo of Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar. At the second spot, IU sophomore Antonio Cembellin and senior Stefan Lugonjic had a 5-4 lead but the match went unfinished.
Notre Dame earned straight set victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles to take a 3-0 lead in the match. The Irish claimed their fourth win with a 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot. Although losing the remaining matches, IU went three sets in two out of three. At the top spot, junior Raheel Manji fell 4-6, 6-1, 5-7 to the 34th ranked player.
Up next, IU will travel to Seattle, Wash. for a match against the Washington Huskies on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 1:30 p.m.
