Hoosiers Fall at Iowa, 6-1

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Indiana women's tennis team came up short against Iowa in their Big Ten opener as they dropped a 6-1 on the road on Saturday in Iowa City.
The Hoosiers (9-6, 0-1) dropped the doubles point after falling in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 match was 4-4 when it was stopped.
The Hawkeyes (11-1, 1-1) pushed their lead to 3-0 with wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Natalie Whalen put Indiana on the board with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 victory on court four, but Iowa clinched the match with a three-set victory on court five.
In two additional close matches the Hawkeyes captured two more three-set singles matches to take the 6-1 victory.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Las Vegas, Nev., for the spring break training trip and a match against Rutgers on March 16. That match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. ET start.
The Hoosiers next home match is Saturday March 25 against Michigan at 11:00 a.m. ET.
