Hoosiers Fall to No. 10 Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 match to No. 10 Michigan on Saturday at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.
In doubles, the Hoosiers (10-7, 1-2) No. 1 doubles team of Madison Appel and Kim Schmider fell behind 3-0, but stormed back to take control of the match.
Appel and Schmider led 5-4 over No. 2 Kate Fahey and Alex Najarian when their match was stopped with Michigan winning the two other doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Earlier this year Appel and Schmider beat the then No. 1 doubles team in the country, from Kentucky.
In singles, Appel carried the momentum on from the doubles match and took the first set 6-4 over No. 18 Fahey. Appel and Fahey were tied 2-2 in the second set when their match was stopped.
After dropping their first sets, Caitlin Bernard came back to tie her second set 5-5 before it was stopped and Pauline Jahren was 4-4 in the second set when it was stopped.
Up next the Hoosiers host Michigan State on Sunday March 26 at 11:00 a.m.
