
Hoosiers Fall At Minnesota, 5-2

MINNEAPOLIS – The Indiana women's tennis team completed their penultimate road weekend with a 5-2 loss at Minnesota on Sunday afternoon.
The Hoosiers (12-12, 3-6) split the first two matches with the Gophers (12-10, 4-4) in the doubles challenge. The pairing of Caitlin Bernard and Pauline Jahren edged their competition, 7-5, before the Gophers secured the No. 2 doubles match, 6-4.
Indiana's top pair, Madison Appel and Kim Schmider, locked the doubles point in the No. 1 match, 6-4.
Whalen rebounded from a doubles defeat to score a win in the singles action. The Chicago native won both sets 6-4, 6-4 to close the gap on the Gophers.
Minnesota scored back-to-back match victories to clinch the team win. Appel came close to tying the contest in the No. 1 singles match, but the sophomore fell in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 1-6.
The Hoosiers will make a brief visit to Bloomington before returning to the road for their final regular season weekend. They start on Friday, April 21 at Ohio State before continuing eastward to Penn State on Sunday, April 23.
