BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 match to Marquette on Sunday at the IU Varsity Courts.

In doubles the Hoosiers (11-9, 2-3 Big Ten) split No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches as Caitlin Bernard and Emma Love won 6-4 and Paula Gutierrez and Pauline Jahren lost 6-1.

The doubles came down to the top pairs and at 6-6 it went to a tiebreak to decide the doubles point. The Marquette team of Silvia Ambrosio and Paula Tormos came out on top over Madison Appel and Kim Schmider, 7-5.

Pauline Jahren put the Hoosiers on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Marquette won the next two singles matches to get out to a 3-1 lead.

Senior Paula Gutierrez beat Diana Tokar, 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to get the Hoosiers within 3-2.

Fleur Eggink won at No. 4 singles for Marquette to clinch the match for the Golden Eagles.

Up next the Hoosiers will host Illinois on Friday April 7 and senior day on Sunday April 9 against Northwestern.
