Bloomington, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will begin the fall season with the Hoosier Classic, Friday Sept. 29-Sunday Oct. 1.
In addition to the Hoosiers, the event will feature Western Michigan, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan and Eastern Kentucky.
The Hoosiers return six players from a season ago and have four newcomers.
Freshmen Andjelija Bozovic (Burr Ridge, Ill.), Michelle McKamey (Paducah, Ky.), Olga Zavarotnaya (Vitebsk, Belarus) and senior Xiwei Cai (Tianjin, China) join the Hoosiers for the 2017-18 season.
The Hoosiers return juniors Madison Appel and Natalie Whalen and redshirt sophomore Caitlin Bernard. Last year Appel earned First Team All-Big Ten Honors.
Returning for their sophomore season are Anna McCoy, Emma Love and Pauline Jahren.
IU head coach Ramiro Azcui said he is excited to start competition this fall with the team.
"We have emphasized getting better each day and making progress towards the spring season," Azcui said. "We have a good mix of returning players and new players and the returning players are doing a great job setting an example and welcoming the new players. This is a group with a great work ethic and positive energy and I'm excited for the season ahead for this team."
The next event IU will host is the IU Regional, Oct. 20-22.
