Hoosier Men Tie UT And Miller Breaks Hoosier All-Time Weight Throw Record

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University hosted the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday afternoon in their annual dual meet. The Hoosier men ended in a tie with the score of 59-59 and the women lost 74-48. The all-time series is now 14-8-1 for the men and 9-4-1 on the women's side.
Junior David Schall won the men's shot put and set a new meet record with the mark of 18.70m (61'4.25"). The previous record was 18.69m set by Rob Carlson in 1993. Schall's mark also secured him the No. 4 spot in the national rankings.
Redshirt senior Andrew Miller toped his all-time Hoosier No. 1 mark after winning the weight throw with a mark of 21.38m (70'1.75"). This mark places Miller in the No. 5 spot in the national rankings.
Sophomore Adam Coulon is currently in a three-way tie for 5th place in the national rankings after winning the pole vault event with the mark of 5.25m. Redshirt freshman Brock Mammoser tied for second place.
Redshirt junior Joe Murphy finished second in the men's 3000m run after a close finish with only .07 seconds between him Zach Long of Tennessee. Murphy crossed the finish line with the time of 8:11.13, which earned him the No. 3 spot in the national rankings. Redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar finished fourth.
Sophomore William Session made his season debut and won the 60m hurdles with the time of 8.22. Freshman Moses Baryoh and junior Clayton Cook took second and third.
The men swept the mile run with redshirt senior Jordan Huntoon took first with the time of 4:22.63. Redshirt junior Kyle Burks and redshirt freshman Marcus Ellington finished second and third.
Huntoon went on to win the 800m with the time of 1:52.07, which earned him the No. 5 spot in the national rankings. Redshirt freshman Teddy Browning finished second with the time of 1:52.96, claiming the No. 9 spot in the national rankings.
The women swept the 800m and also have two top-10 national ranking athletes. Junior Haley Harris (No. 3) won the race with the time of 2:10.46 with sophomore Joely Pinkston (No. 5) finishing close behind with the time of 2:10.81. Sophomore Mallory Mulzer and redshirt sophomore Anevay Hiehle finished fourth and fifth for the Hoosiers.
Redshirt freshman Hannah Stoffel claimed the No. 8 spot in the national rankings when she won the mile run with the time of 4:55.51. Stoffel is now one-of-two Hoosier top-10 national ranked athletes in the mile (Haley Harris, No. 5 – Hoosier Open). Junior Kelsey Harris and redshirt sophomore Stacy Morozov finished second and fourth.
Freshman Maddie Pollard finished second in the women's shot put with the mark of 14.22m (46'8") and third in the weight throw with the mark of 18.13 (59'5.75"). Redshirt freshman Princess Brinkley finished second overall in the weight throw with the mark of 18.21 (59'9").
The Hoosiers will head to Lexington, Ky. next week to compete in the two-day Kentucky Invitational starting on Friday, January 12.
