EVANSTON, Ill. – Indiana Women's Soccer jumped to an early lead, but ultimately fell on the road to No. 25 Northwestern, 2-1.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Allison Jorden put the Hoosiers on top in the 21st minute on her second goal of the season. After the Hoosiers drew a foul, sophomore Hanna Németh served the deep free kick in, finding the head of Jorden, who buried it from eight yards out.
• Northwestern's Brenna Lovera equalized the game right before half in the 43rd minute as she buried a deflection to make it 1-1.
• The Hoosiers drew a penalty kick in the 47th minute after the Wildcats were whistled for a handball inside the box. However, redshirt senior Annelie Leitner's attempt was saved by Northwestern goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood.
• The Wildcats netted the game-winner in the 57th minute after a shot by Nia Harris hit off the left post and back inside the net.
NOTABLES
• Indiana drops to 7-6-2 on the year with a 3-5-0 Big Ten record. Northwestern improves to 9-4-2 with a 3-4-1 conference mark.
• The Hoosiers held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks, including earning six in the second half.
• Northwestern earned a 12-9 shot advantage. Redshirt senior Mykayla Brown and seniors Abby Allen and Maya Piper led the Hoosiers with two shots apiece.
• Goalkeeper Bethany Kopel had five saves in the game, while Wood had four.
QUOTABLE
"We've been struggling to put together a full 90 minutes and we need to continue to build on that. There are too many times where we have small lapses and lose track of some of the details and fundamentals of what we're trying to do - whether it's our individual defending or our fight and relentlessness in the box on the offensive end. We were good for the most part today, but not quite good enough to come out on the right end of the scoreboard. We were aggressive and earned opportunities, especially on corners. We just weren't able to capitalize."
