BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer took an early lead, but ultimately fell to Wisconsin Friday night at Bill Armstrong Stadium, 2-1.
KEY MOMENTS
• Redshirt senior Mykayla Brown put the Hoosiers on top in the 15th minute on her fourth goal of the season. Brown brought the ball up the left flank before firing from 25 yards, finding the inside of the far post.
• Wisconsin tied the game in the 51st minute thanks to Cameron Murtha, who headed it in after a service from the right side by Camryn Biegalski.
• The Badgers' game-winner came in the 74th minute on a ball by Lauren Rice, who beat the Hoosier defender on the right side of the box before shooting from 10 yards.
NOTABLES
• Indiana dropped to 6-5-2 on the year, with a 2-4-0 Big Ten mark. Wisconsin improved to 9-2-3, with a 3-1-3 conference record.
• The loss marked the first home setback of the year for the Hoosiers, who were previously 4-0-1 at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
• Wisconsin outshot Indiana, 12-6, with a 6-2 corner kick advantage.
• IU sophomore goalkeeper Bethany Kopel collected five saves.
QUOTABLE
"They pressed us a bit more and it took us a minute to adjust to the pressure and we ask the players to think on the fly. That's something we're continuing to try and grow as a unit. We needed to be a bit more tactical with their interchange of different players and they just caught us a couple times.
Minnesota and Wisconsin are totally different teams so we're going to have to switch our minds away from this and tactically be ready to face a very good Minnesota team. We just talked about how there's still 15 points available with five guaranteed games left. The results in the Big Ten have been crazy this year so we just need to make sure we are taking care of ourselves and only focus on the next 90 minutes Sunday at noon. "
