Shepherd’s Solid Second Round Paces Hoosiers at Maridoe

The Maridoe Golf Club outside Dallas, Texas is living up to its reputation, providing plenty of challenges for some of the top collegiate golfers in the country. The course architect, Steve Smyers, is also the architect for the IU Golf Course renovation that is currently underway.
The Hoosiers dropped one spot on the team leaderboard to ninth place after a second round score of 304 gave IU a total score of 606 (302-304; +46). Sophomore Ethan Shepherd's 73 in round two led the way for IU while Jake Brown rebounded from a tough opening round to card a 74 on Sunday.
Monday will bring the final round of the tournament, with IU getting their round underway at 9:20 a.m. ET.

• Sophomore Ethan Shepherd moved up 21 spots on the individual leaderboard after his second round 73 put him at 9-over par for the tournament. He has played the Par 4's in 5-over par through the first two rounds, which is tied for 10th in the 75-person field. He also has 22 pars, which is the fifth-most in the field.
• Shepherd's second round saw him go out in 1-over par with two bogeys and one birdie. His birdie at the 16th hole put him back to 1-over for the day but a double bogey on the 17th hole bumped him up to 3-over for the day.
• After a difficult opening round, senior Jake Brown returned to his steady ways with a 74 in round two. He is tied for 29th with a total score of 151 (77-74; +11). He carded three birdies in round two and was at 1-over par for the day through 17 holes before a triple bogey on the last hole.
• Junior Brock Ochsenreiter is tied for 39th with a score of 153 after his second round 77. He logged eight pars and one bogey on his front side before playing the back nine in 6-over par. Through two rounds, Ochsenreiter has 23 pars, which is the fourth-most in the field.
• Freshman Mitch Davis is tied for 47th with a total score of 155 (75-80; +15) heading into the final round. Through the first two rounds, Davis has played the par 5's in 2-under par, which is the second-best total in the field.
• Junior Evan Gaesser is tied for 66th with score of 160 (75-85; +20) after two rounds.
