IUXC Travels to Madison for NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Cross Country hits the road as they travel to Madison, Wisc. for NCAA Championships. The Meet is set for Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Zimmer Championships Cross Country Course. This is the first time since 2013 that both the men's and women's teams will be competing in the national meet.
The women's 6K race will kick off the meet with a start time of 11:45 EST followed by the men's 10K race.
New Mexico's women's squad returns to NCAA Championships after winning the national championship one year ago. Two Big Ten teams earned automatic bids in Wisconsin and Michigan with Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Penn State joining them in Saturday's contest as they earned at-large bids to the meet.
At the Great Lakes Regional, the Hoosiers were led by Louisville, Ky. native Maggie Allen who finished eighth overall in a time of 20:44.3. Katherine Receveur clocked a time 20:56.6 to take 19th while Lexa Barrott finished 30th overall in a time of 21:08.0. Senior Kelsey Harris followed three spots behind in 33rd to clock a time of 21:14.4. Bailey Hertenstein was the next Hoosier to cross the finish line as she placed 47th (21:33.2). Hannah Stoffel (21:53.0) and Kelsey Harris (22:10.3) rounded out the field for Indiana by placing 57th and 78th, respectively. Overall, the team placed fifth with 137 points at regionals.
On the men's side, Northern Arizona will return to the meet to defend their national championship title that they won in 2017. Four Big Ten teams earned their spot in the national meet with Wisconsin earning the automatic bid and Indiana, Michigan State, and Purdue earning at-large bids.
Kyle Mau sealed his spot in NCAA Championships before the at-large announcements last Saturday with a fourth-place finish at the Great Lake Regional in a time of 31:12.7. Dustin Horter continued to prove his spot with the Hoosiers as he clocked a time of 31:34.1 and placed 19th in his first regional meet. Bryce Millar was the next runner in a Cream and Crimson uniform to cross the finish line and finished 30th overall. Joe Murphy (31:51.6), Daniel Michalski (31:55.4), and Arjun Jha (32:00.6) crossed this finish almost back-to-back-to-back as they placed 34th, 36th, and 38th, respectively. Reese Jordan rounded out competition for Indiana as he took 59th place with a time of 32:20.4. Overall, they placed fifth with 124 points.
