Hoosiers Set For Home Opener vs. Northern Illinois

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana wrestling team will compete for the first time at home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at University Gym against Northern Illinois.
Last Time Out
The Hoosiers competed last at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md., where they finished in second-place out of 16 teams. Indiana had seven place in the top-six in their respective weight classes, led by a first-place finish from Jake Kleimola. Paul Konrath and Bryce Martin finished in third-place, Kyle Luigs finished in fourth-place, Elijah Oliver and Jake Danishek finished in fifth-place and Garrett Pepple finished in sixth-place.
Dual Competition
This will be the Hoosiers third dual meet of the season. Indiana comes in with a 1-1 record with a defeat at Virginia and a victory at SIU Edwardsville.
The Series vs. NIU
Indiana leads the all-time series against NIU, 13-4 and have won six of the last seven matches. Last year, in Bloomington, Indiana won the dual by a score of 33-6.

"We are really excited. This is where it starts. New program as far as new staff, new excitement and new energy. We are here to Ignite the program on Friday. Be out there, be loud and show up. We are going to show up as far as wrestling goes and we want all the fans there."

I think we are going to continue to keep moving up and forward. It's good to see these guys, how they are out there competing. They are having fun and they are loving the process. It is all about the journey and they are loving the journey so far."
