Indiana Rolls to 5-0 Win Over Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team (6-4) traveled to Purdue and came back with a 5-0 win over the Boilermakers on Wednesday night at the Basham Courts of the Schwartz Tennis Center.
With a different look at doubles, IU prevailed to get the extra point. At the third spot, sophomore Zac Brodney and senior Raheel Manji grabbed a 6-2 win. To secure the doubles point, juniors Antonio Cembellin and Afonso Salgado won 6-4. The one match left unfinished was at the top spot with sophomore Bennett Crane and senior Keivon Tabrizi in a 5-5 tie.
Singles went the same for the Hoosiers as they won four matches. At the four spot, Crane won his fifth match in his last six appearances in the singles lineup. Leading 2-0, the Hoosiers got a point near the top of the lineup when Cembellin won 6-3, 6-1 at the two spot.
Within minutes, Indiana found itself with a 5-0 match win after Brodney beat Javier Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-2 at the five spot and freshman Brandon Lam won his fourth match of the dual season, 6-1, 6-4 at the six spot.
Next up, the Hoosiers head home for a doubleheader against No. 35 Vanderbilt and Saint Louis on Feb. 25. Promotions for the match against Vanderbilt include coffee and donuts provided by Square Donuts.
