Hoosiers Fall at No. 6 Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Indiana women's tennis team came up short on the road at No. 6 Illinois on Saturday in a 6-1 defeat at the Atkins Tennis Center.

Illinois won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Hoosiers (12-4) had a 5-4 lead at No. 3 doubles, but the match went unfinished with a score of 5-5 when it was stopped.

The Fighting Illini won at No. 5 singles and then got wins from two of their ranked singles players at No. 1 (#86) and No. 2 (#90) to clinch the match.

Freshman Olga Zavarotnaya improved to 6-1 on the season in singles matches in dual match play with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles for the Hoosiers.

Up next the Hoosiers will play at No. 8 Northwestern on March 17 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
