IU Earns Honorable Mention All-America Honors on First Night of NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9-ranked Indiana University women's swimming and diving team got off to a fast start at the 2018 NCAA Women's Championships on Wednesday night at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
The Hoosier 800 freestyle relay team of Kennedy Goss, Delaney Barnard, Maria Paula Heitmann and Shelby Koontz earned Honorable-Mention All-America honors, placing 16th overall with a time of 7:02.37.
The time from Goss, Barnard, Heitmann and Koontz ranks as the ninth-best time in school history.
The 2018 NCAA Championships will continue on Thursday morning with the prelims of the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 400 medley relay and 1-meter dive. The action gets underway at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at 10:00 a.m. ET.
