Hoosiers Improve To Sixth In Final Round of Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Freshman Mary Parsons shot a 1-under par while Indiana improved in the final standings to sixth place in the third and final round of the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational on Saturday.
Parsons led the IU field with a 71 in the final 18 holes at El Tigre Golf & Country Club. Her eagle on hole ten along with two birdies in the round helped her finish T29th overall. Freshman Priscilla Schmid led the pack with a 77 on the day and a 54-hole score of 224 and in the top 20, T19th overall which marked her third 20th place finish or higher this season.
Sophomore Elisa Pierre also carded a 77, finishing one stroke behind Schmid with a 225 in T20th overall. Rounding out IU's five were junior Erin Harper (227) and senior Alix Kong who tied for 65th overall (239).
As a team, Indiana improved three spots from day one and finished sixth overall of a 12-team field. They finished just four strokes out of fourth place and seventh out of second place overall with a combined 899. Arizona claimed the team crown as IU finished behind Wisconsin as one of three Big Ten teams competing this weekend.
Individually, four Hoosiers got tournament experience with senior Pear Siriko and freshman Angela Aung both collecting T57th finishes (235). Sophomore Carolina Garrett (T65th) and Emma Fisher (76th) rounded out the IU field in the spring break trip.
The Hoosiers are back in action on Mar 23-25 at the Clemson Invitational in Sunrise, SC.
