BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team opened their Friday doubleheader with a 4-0 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles inside the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers and Golden Eagles battled for the doubles point, Marquette winning at the top spot and IU grabbing the third spot. With the point coming down to the two spot, sophomore Bennett Crane and senior Keivon Tabrizi stepped up and won their match 6-3.
Indiana rode that momentum into singles and came away with three wins. After last weeks' match for freshman Andrew Redding was cut short, he came back with a 6-1, 6-1 match at the six spot. Shortly after junior Afonso Salgado won his second match of the day, 6-1, 6-4, Tabrizi 6-4, 6-2 victory clinched the Hoosiers eighth win of the season.
IU will be back at it at 6 p.m. inside the IU Tennis Center when they take on the Drake Bulldogs. At the match, free pizza will be offered.
